Brandenburg-Prussia's imperial and confessional policy under Frederic III/I and Frederic William I« This book deals with the imperial policy of the Prussian kings Frederic III/I and Frederic William I. Particular emphasis is placed on the confessional policy within the Holy Roman Empire and the methods that were used by these two monarchs in order to shape their image as patrons of Protestantism. From the late 17th century onwards, Brandenburg-Prussia became one of the leading Protestant powers of the Empire. In the struggle for Brandenburg-Prussia's status in the Empire the first two Prussian kings made particular use of this role in confrontation with the Catholic Emperors.
