Abstract The deployment of cloud services causes significant difficulties to the law. Regardless where data in the cloud is physically stored it is accessible from anywhere via the Internet. The book “Cloud Computing and the State’s right to punish” on the one hand examines potential criminal risks arising from unrestricted accessibility of data stored in the cloud. On the other hand it outlines the means of penal investigation in this context within the limits of the German code of criminal procedure. In addition the author provides recommendations of both, action and organization, for cloud providers and users in order to present a road map for the secure usage of cloud services.
