Methodological Approaches to STEM Education Research Volume 1

This book addresses the constantly changing nature of the methodologies that underpin educational research in mathematics, science, health and environmental education. This is a constantly shifting landscape that educational researchers need to engage with in order for research to continue to impact educational practice. One of the main drivers of putting together this book is to further the community focus of the long-running Contemporary Approaches to Research symposium, which has, since its inception, been an opportunity for the community of STEM education researchers to come together as a group to tackle the big questions of methodology. The contributions in this volume are extended versions of a selection of the symposium presentations and discussions. The novelty of this book in the context of the existing publishing landscape is that it has a singular focus on methodology and methods, not in service of research findings but as something worth considering in itself, bringing methodology to the forefront of educational research.
