Produktbeschreibung
The turn of the 19th to 20th century was clearly characterised by a perceptible “disenchantment” of music. Experiences of transcendence through the arts became increasingly less important. At the same time, the close connection of music to reality and nature became the centre of focus. The present volume examines the various and modifiable causes and catalysts of this musical and cultural-historical transformation in Europe, Korea, Japan, Eritrea, and Iran from the 19th to the late 20th century from various perspectives. Initial social, individual, cultural, and political factors are vital in identifying their role and impact. In order to classify the force of the pressure wave and the temporal progression of changes, these processes are discussed as a “metamorphosis”.
