An Introduction to World China Studies

This book examines the seven key issues related to China, which have been identified by experts over the past few centuries. The topics addressed include China's impact on international discourse, the inheritance of Chinese civilization, the great divergence between Chinese and Western histories, Kondratiev Cycle Theory, the socialist system and its future prospects, the Chinese path to modernization, and the Belt and Road Initiative. The authors explore these issues within the broader context of human civilization and the evolving global landscape, offering systematic explanations for each topic and redefining the concepts of World China Studies. Wang Zhan is President of the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations and Executive Director of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges. Chu Yanhong, PhD in Overseas China Studies from the Department of History, East China Normal University, is an associate researcher at the Institute of China Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. She is the author of a number of books including Shifting Perspectives: American Studies of Chinese Women’s History Since the 1960s.
