Mit der Veröffentlichung der Vorträge des Symposiums aus Anlass des 70. Geburtstages von Professor Dr. Norbert P. Flechsig will sich die VFF für das langjährige Wirken des Aufsichtsratsvorsitzenden der VFF bedanken. Mit dem Aufkommen von Vervielfältigungsmöglichkeiten im privaten Bereich, zunächst im musikalischen Bereich, mit Einführung der Videorecorder auch im Bildbereich, wurden gesetzliche Vergütungsansprüche geschaffen, die in der digitalen Welt das Aufzeichnungsverhalten verändern und damit das Urheberrecht vor neue Herausforderungen stellen. Deswegen ist es richtig, sich mit Haftungsfragen für Urheberrechtsverletzungen ebenso zu befassen wie mit dem Urheberstrafrecht, welches den Schutz des geistigen Eigentums auch in der digitalen Welt gewährleisten muss. Das Symposium gibt das Rüstzeug für die Antwort auf diese Frage.

Abstract By publishing the lectures from the symposium held to celebrate the 70th birthday of Professor Dr Norbert P. Fleischig, the VFF (the German copyright collective of film and TV producers) would like to extend their deepest gratitude to him for his many years of service as the chairman of their board of supervisors. The emergence of new methods of copying all kinds of material in the private sphere, such as music and, due to the introduction of the video recorder, film, has led to royalty claims that have changed the ways in which material is recorded and are thus posing new challenges to copyright law. It is therefore necessary to examine copyright law, which must guarantee the protection of intellectual property even in the digital world, and to address questions of liability in cases of copyright infringement. The aforementioned symposium provides us with the know-how to be able to answer these questions.
