Der Band enthält Portraits von Friedrich Weißler, dem Mitverfasser der Denkschrift der Bekennenden Kirche über die Rechtsverletzungen des Hitlerregimes von 1936 und von F.J. Perels, juristischer und christlicher Freund von Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Porträtiert werden Josef Wirmer, Exponent des katholischen Widerstands und designierter Justizministers einer Regierung des 20. Juli, Adam von Trott zu Solz, Jurist im Kreisauer Kreis, Richard Schmid, Anwalt der illegalen Sozialistischen Arbeiter Partei, zu der der junge Willy Brandt gehörte. Hinzu kommt ein Portrait über Wolfgang Abendroth, der aus der kommunistischen Partei Opposition kam, später, Mitglied der SPD war und der Vereinigung Deutscher Staatsrechtslehrer angehörte. Schließlich wird die völkerrechtliche Erbschaft und Aktualität des Widerstands, insbesondere der Gedankenwelt des Kreisauer Kreises entfaltet. Die theologische Dimension des christlich begründeten Widerstands rundet die Andacht von Cornelius Bundschuh ab, die auf der Tagung gehalten wurde.
Das Buch eröffnet eine neue Dimension der weitgehenden juristischen Einheit des politischen Widerstands gegen Hitler, die in der DDR und in der Bundesrepublik jahrelang aus unterschiedlichen Gründen aus dem Blickfeld geraten war. Es war symptomatisch dass der Staatssekretär Konrad Adenauers, Hans Globke, die Nürnberger Gesetze gegen die Juden von 1935, affirmativ kommentiert hatte.

Abstract The volume contains portraits of Friedrich Weißler, coauthor of the memorandum of the Confessing Church on the violation of rights of the Hitler regime in 1936 and of F.J: Perels, the legal and Christian friend of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. There is a portrait of Josef Wirmer, representing the catholic resistance and nominated as minister of justice of a government of the 20th of July and Adam von Trott zu Solz, Lawyer in the Kreisau Circle and Richard Schmid, Lawyer of illegal Socialist Workers Party, to which the young Willy Brandt belonged. There is also a portrait of Wolfgang Abendroth, the communist Party Opposition, later on and member of the Social Democratic Party, who belonged to the Association of German Teachers of State Law. The legacy of the law of nations and actual importance of resistance mainly in the context of thought of the Kreisau circle is being developed. The theological dimension of the Christian roots of resistance is subject of the meditation of Cornelius Bundschuh, which was held during the conference.
The book opens up a new dimension of the largely existing legal unity of political resistance against Hitler, which was not visible for many years in the German Democratic Republic for many reasons. It was symptomatic that the Secretary of State of Konrad Adenauer, Hans Globke, had commented the Nurnberg Laws against the Jews from 1935, in an affirmative way.
