[Dorothee Sölle's Theology. Suggestions – Beginnings – Relationships]
Dorothee Sölle (1929-2003) was one of the first female voices in German-speaking theology in the 20th century. She dedicated her thinking to the big political and social issues of her time and provoked a variety of reactions in the public sphere. Until now, her theology and its impact have hardly been the subject of academic study. This volume offers a wide range of new perspectives on her: Sölle's beginnings in the academia are presented and set against the background of contemporary debates. Her relationship to the 'death of God' theology, to the Kirchentag movement and to Christians in East Germany are discussed, as well as her self-image as a teacher of religion and the impulses of her theology for the current debate on theodicy.
