Produktbeschreibung
This book examines the reception of the poet Thomas Kling (1957–2005), a figure of pivotal importance in the development of German poetry. It traces the influences on Kling’s innovative poetics through to his reception by two following generations of German poets.
Drawing on Christopher Beach’s study of the Pound tradition, the book develops an alternative model of poetic influence. Unlike Harold Bloom’s conflict-driven view of literary history, this model understands the relationship between poets, their predecessors, and their contemporaries not only as active and positive, but – by drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory – also as driven by sociological factors.
