Religions and Communism

This book explores the ecumenical activity of Fr. Andre Scrima (1925–2000), a Romanian theologian in exile who played a significant role in the Second Vatican Council. Drawing on previously unpublished sources, it examines how his work and influence were closely monitored by the Romanian Communist regime, shedding light on the surveillance strategies of the Securitate. In addition to uncovering state security records—presented in a unique appendix—the book offers a comprehensive study of Scrima’s theological contributions, his role as a professor and writer, and his relationships within the Romanian exile community, particularly in France.
