Individual and Community in the Public Discourse of the Orthodox Church

This book intends to shed new light on the place of the individual in the Orthodox tradition and theology, its relationship to the community, the communal understanding of the Church and the theology of personhood. Furthermore it discusses issues related to this problématique, such as the weak position of civil society in predominantly Orthodox countries or the question of pluralism and human rights.

All contributions of Orthodox theologian and experts on Orthodox Christianity reflect the diverse conceptions of the individual and the community within recent Orthodox theology and churches, and contribute to a modern understanding of Orthodox Christianity.
