Shepheard’s of Cairo

The book provides a comprehensive survey and analysis of the art, architecture and design of the legendary Shepheard’s Hotel of Cairo. Until recently, there had been little scholarly work on the building due to the near total absence of visual material on the subject. Thanks to the recent discovery of a cache of documents, this notable gap in the study of belle époque architecture in Egypt has been filled; in addition, the book offers new perspectives on to the tradition of grand hotels and hotel architecture in general.
