The city of Brno is unique in its support of sculptural art. The sculptures which this book Sculptural Brno 1989–2019 provides information on can be placed into four basic categories. Since 2004, Brno's city leaders have been financing Sculpture for Brno, which has led to the gradual appearance of sculptures dedicated to people connected to the history of the city. Another group is made up of sculptures found on the grounds of Masaryk University. Thanks to sculptural symposia we can find works of art along the Svratka river, on the beaches of the Brno Reservoir and in other areas. The fourth theme is the international show Brno Art Open.
