Abstract In social corporations, different patterns of thought and logic in providing social services confront each other: economics, medical and nursing science, social education, curative education or – in deaconry – theology. In this volume, the consequences of multi-rationality for management are identified in regard to strategies, decision-making and innovation processes. The complex relationship between the deaconry and the church is discussed from historical, legal, theological and systemic perspectives. The book’s third part reflects on the potential for corporate development, focusing on social space issues, innovation and cooperation economics. This volume offers management personnel and those interested in the deaconry insights into recent research and discourses, and provides impetus for them in implementing a professional and humane style of management.
