Der Sammelband beleuchtet die EU-Handelspolitik im Spannungsfeld zwischen Multilateralismus und Regionalismus. Die EU-Handelspolitik hat aufgrund der kaum zu erwartenden Ereignisse im Jahr 2016 (insbesondere des BREXITs und der US-Präsidentschaftswahl) stark an Bedeutung gewonnen. Angesichts der stagnierenden Doha-Runde setzt die EU vermehrt auf regionale Wirtschaftsabkommen, um Wachstumspotentiale auszuschöpfen. Dabei muss sie insbesondere den wirtschaftsvölkerrechtlichen Rahmen der WTO für regionale Integrationsgemeinschaften beachten, allerdings auch Ursprungsregeln und die Beseitigung von technischen Handelshemmnissen klug verhandeln. Entscheidend für eine erfolgreiche EU-Handelspolitik werden darüber hinaus die handelspolitischen Beziehungen zu China und den USA sein, die das multipolare Weltwirtschaftssystem des 21. Jahrhunderts prägen. All diese Aspekte behandelt der Sammelband interdisziplinär und spricht daher insbesondere Juristen, Volkswirte und Politikwissenschaftler an.

Abstract This conference anthology analyses the EU’s trade policy between multilateralism and regionalism. EU trade policy has become increasingly important considering events in 2016/2017, like the result of the BREXIT referendum or the presidency of Donald Trump, neither of which were entirely expected. Facing a stagnating Doha Development Round at WTO level, the EU is increasingly focusing on regional economic integration (e.g. CETA or TiSA). In doing so, it must comply with the requirements of regional trade agreements set by the WTO, but also needs to carefully negotiate on rules of origin and the elimination of technical trade barriers. Furthermore, the success of the EU’s trade policy will depend on its trade relations with China and the US, which will still shape the multipolar global economy of the 21st century. All these aspects are discussed interdisciplinarily in this anthology, and thus it will be of particular interest to scholars in the fields of legal, economic and political science.
