Produktbeschreibung
This book offers the first systematic presentation of Edmund Husserl’s program for a theory of science (Wissenschaftslehre). The problems and tasks of a theory of science are by no means a peripheral concern of Husserl’s philosophical work. Instead, they form the central focus around which Husserl’s diverse analyses revolve, and not least the essential source and justification of his project of phenomenology and phenomenological philosophy. Husserl’s comprehensive program of a theory of science has so far been addressed only marginally and fragmentarily in the literature. The present book fills this gap by systematically exploring the possibility, idea, method, and division of Husserl’s theory of science. On the other hand, it examines its historical development, which is particularly evident in the hitherto little-researched manuscripts of his Göttingen lectures.
The work is aimed at students and researchers in the fields of phenomenology and philosophy of science. At the same time, it makes an original contribution to the current debate in Husserl research on the role and function of scientific-theoretical thinking in the emergence of phenomenological philosophy.
