Bernard Bolzano Gesamtausgabe / Band II,B,16,2: Philosophische Tagebücher 1811-1814

Die im vorliegenden Band der Philosophischen Tagebücher enthaltenen ›Analecta mixta VII und VIII‹ zeigen Bolzano auf einer umfassenden Orientierungssuche, indem er anspruchsvolle Presseorgane wie die ›Leipziger Literaturzeitung‹ und die ›Heidelbergischen Jahrbücher für Literatur‹ der Jahre 1811 bis 1814 durchforstet, alles ihn Interessierende rezipiert und oft kommentiert. Das thematische Spektrum ist breit, wobei sich Gewichtungen erkennen lassen: viel Theologisches mit Berücksichtigung des Supernaturalismus und theologischen Rationalismus, tendenziell eher Unentschiedenes zur Philosophie, da er hier noch auf dem Wege zu seinem eigenen System ist, sowie sogar einiges Mathematisches. Die starke Neigung zu Erziehungsgedanken aus den vorausgegangenen Tagebüchern (BGA 2B.14 und 15) setzt sich in der Rezeption von Pädagogica fort. Sehr bemerkenswert ist Bolzanos Anteilnahme an juristischen Themen, die letztlich auf eine Gesamtauffassung einer funktionierenden menschlichen Gesellschaft hinausläuft, wie er sie im ›Büchlein vom besten Staate‹ (erstmals 1932 publiziert) vorgelegt hat.

The ›Analecta mixta VII and VIII‹ contained in this volume of the Philosophical Diaries show Bolzano on a comprehensive search for orientation, as he combed through sophisticated press organs such as the ›Leipziger Literaturzeitung‹ and the ›Heidelbergische Jahrbücher für Literatur‹ of the years 1811 to 1814, receiving and often commenting on everything that interested him. The thematic spectrum is broad, whereby weightings can be recognized: a lot of theology with consideration of supernaturalism and theological rationalism, a tendency to be rather undecided about philosophy, as he was still on the way to his own system here, and even some mathematics. The strong inclination towards educational ideas from the previous diaries (BGA 2B.14 and 15) continues in the reception of Pädagogica. Bolzano's interest in legal issues, which ultimately boils down to an overall conception of a functioning human society, as he presented it in the ›Büchlein vom besten Staate‹ (Little Book of the Best State, first published in 1932), is very remarkable.
