Reichel-Chronik (1831–1863)

Die Chronik der dörflichen Kirchgemeinde Lützschena und Hänichen mit Quasnitz westlich von Leipzig führte deren Pfarrer Reichel über dreißig Jahre (1861–1863) ohne große Unterbrechungen. Sie gibt ein plastisches Bild des Gemeindelebens und des Zusammenspiels zwischen politischer Gemeinde, Kirchgemeinde und Patron, das eingebettet ist in die für die Kirche einschneidenden Umbrüche des 19. Jahrhunderts. Zugleich ist es die Schau auf diese und andere politische Ereignisse von der „Basis“ her, die dieses Buch zu einer interessanten Lektüre macht – ein bisher wenig beachteter und selten gegebener Blickwinkel auf Kirche und Gesellschaft im 19. Jahrhundert.

The chronicle of the village parish of Lützschena and Hänichen with Quasnitz situated to the west of Leipzig was kept by its parson Ernst Moritz Reichel for more than thirty years with only minor interruptions. It presents a vivid picture of communal life and of the interplay between political community, church parish and patron, embedded in the social upheavals of the nineteenth century that were decisive for the church. It is particularly this view from the „basis“, in which these and other political events are presented, that makes this journal such interesting reading – a so far largely neglected and rarely presented perspective on church and society in the 19th century.
