[Reformation Sermon in the Present. Difficulties and Possibilities]
These sermon teachings deal primarily with the inner reservations that make it difficult for many people today to engage with the Christian faith. What do we say to people who, because of their scientific-empiricist worldview, have difficulties with the concept of God, do not accept religious claims to truth, or, in the face of evil, think they cannot believe in a good and just God and thus in the gospel? But also the sermon of the law is confronted with challenges posed by the ambivalence of scientific and technological progress, by democracy and globalization, of which the Reformers could not have been aware.
The author points the way to a contemporary Reformation theology for the pulpit, argues for the sermon as a form of media communication, and illustrates his own practice through selected sermons.
