OTK Files - Vienna Street Art Projects gathers Roland Maurmair's recent artistic interventions in public space, realized in large part in and around Ottakring, Vienna's sixteenth municipal district, where the artist's studio and residence are located. Maurmair's brief statements, which bespeak his ingenuity and quick wit, are nomadic art-here today and gone tomorrow. This type of art in public space is not invasive in its appearance and leaves no permanent trace. Whoever wants to find it must improvise and hurry. Using of materials found on site, this art may be interpreted as a kind of Urban Land Art. The title OTK Files features the abbreviation OTK for Ottakring, which the attentive observer will find scattered around the district, as tags on various facades. Ultimately, the projects documented in this publication offer the readers Roland Maurmair's gently vexing approach to the seemingly unskakeably prosaic normalcy of an urban milieu.
