Engaging Beneficiaries for Development Participation

This book provides an understanding of, and adds to the literature on, the prerequisites for development participation through examining beneficiary engagement by both governmental and non-governmental organisations (GOs and NGOs). This book is a valuable addition to the literature on and practice of maximising the effectiveness of development programs through beneficiary engagement in Third World Countries. Previous literature in this field utilises the concept of beneficiary participation in order to make development people-centred. Much has been discussed on why participation is needed to make development meaningful. However, when and how development participation occurs in its practical application is an as yet unresearched topic. This book fills this knowledge gap with insights and evidence identified in the development context of Bangladesh.
